Choose a layout or a theme

Shopify has a theme store of its own. These themes all come with full support from the designers, so you can rest assured that your store is in good hands. All themes include a complete list of changes you can make without touching a single line of code. The premium themes have more customization options, but you can still have a great-looking site with a free theme. In the following section, you go over these changes in detail. There are many restrictions to what can be accomplished by accessing the HTML and CSS if you want to make wholesale changes to a theme. If you don't have any coding experience, don't worry as everything is possible with the right guidance of the shopify development agency.

Edit Shopify settings

You can rest assured that you won't end up with a website that looks like a clone of thousands of other stores because most Shopify themes allow you to make simple changes that can drastically alter your store's appearance. Select the 'Themes' from the left navigation menu on your admin screen. Your live theme will be displayed in a box at the top of the page, with two buttons in the top right corner. The first is a three-dot icon that allows you to change some simple settings. This is one of the important process of shopify custom development. One of these options allows you to duplicate the theme. This is highly recommended because if you make any changes that you don't like, you can delete the duplicate and start over. 'Customize Theme' is the second button. If you click it, you will be taken to a page where you can manage your store's basic functions. This is an excellent time to play around with the settings and test out all of the features to see your site's capability.

Add your products to the store

Select 'Products' from the left-hand navigation bar. In the middle of the page, you'll see a blue "Add a product" button. Fill in as many details as you like about your brands on the next screen. Pay special attention to the elements that will aid SEO, such as the name, description, and URL. Include all details as possible to help consumers understand your products. This is the screen where you can upload photos of your products. You can rearrange the images after they have been uploaded, so don't worry about uploading them in a specific order. The shopify eCommerce development company avails of every information required for the process. Close-up pictures of your goods will help you sell them, so make sure you show them off to their best advantage. It is recommended that you keep all of your photos the same size to keep your store looking neat. Unless you want your collection pages to resemble a Pinterest board, that is. Always, make sure to click the 'Save product' button in the top and bottom right corners once you've completed everything.

Payment gateways

You can accept payments from your customers through your website using a payment gateway. It's important to look at the price and commission rate, but it's also important to look at the features they provide. Payment gateways are not all created equal. When choosing a payment gateway, you have to consider the following factors.

Transaction fees

When you make a payment, some gateways keep a small percentage or flat fee or both to allow you to use their service. Compare the two based on the amount of money you expect to make.

Card types

You must know what kinds of cards your chosen Payment Gateway accepts. It has to be capable of dealing with any card options. It should mostly accept all types of popular cards.

Off Site checkout

Some payment gateways can process the transaction on their servers using their own forms. This means the customer is taken away through the checkout and directed to your payment gateway's payment form. Once the customer has successfully paid, they will be redirected to your confirmation page. This gives you a little more control over the checkout procedure.

Get your online shop live

You'll need to add a few more details about your business and how you plan to make deliveries and pay taxes before your site can go live.

General

Make sure the bottom left settings area has all of your company's information. Make sure you are using Search Engines analytics. This can be a most useful tool for keeping track of your store's visitors. The top shopify development companies are very specialized with this process to help their customers.

Shipping

You may lose sales if your shipping rates are too restrictive or if you don't provide enough options. Only the rules you specify in the admin's Shipping page will be used to calculate a shipping rate for your customers.

Test your order system

You can use Shopify's Bogus Gateway to simulate a transaction to test your system.

Using the bogus gateway

To access your Payments settings, go to your store admin and click Settings, then Payments.
If you're using a credit card gateway, make sure it's turned off before proceeding. To deactivate, click Edit, then Deactivate, then Confirm.
To access the dropdown menu in the Accept credit cards section, click Select a Credit Card Gateway.
Scroll down to the other, then click Bogus Gateway for testing.
If you've used the Bogus Gateway before, click activate (or Reactivate).
Visit your storefront and place an order as if you were a client. Instead of real numbers, enter the following credit card information at checkout.
